Expository Writing

Expository Writing informs or explains in order to expand a reader’s understanding. This course will focus on improving the student’s writing ability in various rhetorical modes, including description, narration, persuasion, definition, classification, comparison, causation, and process analysis. In addition to weekly writing assignments, students will regularly collaborate with classmates in a “workshop” atmosphere with the aim of improving their writing.

Please note that Expository Writing is not a course in writing fundamentals, but is intended for the capable writer who seeks to further refine his/her written work.
