This course examines the development of English and world literature. In the first semester, students will study the development of English literature from Beowulf through Shakespeare to the beginning of Romanticism. In the second semester, students will examine at least one of the following: World Literature representing Asian, African and Latin countries, Eastern European Literature, representing the Slavic countries from Central Europe to Western Asia, or Media Literacy, which examines how modern media is a text that can be read like any book. A term paper must be completed in a satisfactory manner to receive credit for the course.
